Fair Weather In 2012

"He answered and said unto them, When it is evening, ye say, It will be fair weather: for the sky is red. And in the morning, It will be foul weather to day: for the sky is red and lowering. O ye hypocrites, ye can discern the face of the sky; but can ye not discern the signs of the times? (Matthew 16: 2-3)

"Now learn a parable of the fig tree; When his branch is yet tender, and putteth forth leaves, ye know that summer is nigh: So likewise ye, when ye shall see all these things, know that it is near, even at the doors." (Matthew 24: 32-33)

Any American alive at this moment in time, even if they live under a rock, should discern that something is terribly wrong with the weather--in more ways than one. Storm clouds are brewing with intensity along political, economic, moral and spiritual lines--on a global scale--like no other time in the history of mankind.

We are no longer the beacon of hope that we once were to many countries around the world.

Is this by design of many of the elected officials wielding power in our current government?

Are there institutions here in America who would desire our country take a backseat to other nations of the world?

Does the average American desire to apologize for American exceptionalisim?

Are we on a collision course with a one world government with America relegated to third world status?

What are some of the questions being asked by everyday people concerning the weather phenomenons and natural disasters we are witnessing not only here in America, but around the world?

Why are the weather patterns everywhere changing with such severity?

Do storms seem to be much more severe and wreak greater pain and suffering than in times past?

Is it affirmation of global warming or could it be something deeper as the root cause?

Could it be a result of the moral deterioration of America or just happenstance?

Can we expect an increase or a decrease in the frequency and intensity of violent weather in the future?

Why are earthquakes happening more frequently now than in the past?

Are any of these severe weather events or earthquakes a result of any diplomatic issues with allies abroad?

Have we been given any warnings in the past that these events would come to pass?

In his book, "As America Has Done To Israel", John McTernan offers many interesting parallels between catastrophic weather events here in America as they relate to moral issues and the treatment of our longstanding ally Israel. Following are just a few examples cited in the book of the parallels. You decide for yourself whether they are mere coincidence or something deeper.

The October 30, 1991 Madrid Peace Conference speech. It's motive by then President George H.W. Bush, who stated, "Territorial compromise( Israel to the Palestinians) is essential for peace".

Parallel: The immense damage to his Kennebunkport home by thirty foot high waves on October 30, 1991 by what is now commonly referred to as "The Perfect Storm". The powerful storm began developing on the same day these remarks were made in Madrid. An excerpt from NOAA gives this account of the 1991 storm. "

"A state by state damage summary reveals the widespread and extensive damage caused by the storm and accompanying seas. Beach erosion and coastal flooding was severe and widespread, even causing damage to lighthouses. Hundreds of homes and businesses were either knocked from their foundations or simply disappeared. Sea walls, boardwalks, bulkheads, and piers were reduced to rubble over a wide area. Numerous small boats were sunk at their berths and thousands of lobster traps were destroyed. Flooding was extensive invading homes and closing roads and airports. Former President Bush's home in Kennebunkport, ME suffered damage as windows were blown out, water flooded the building, and some structural damage also occurred".

On August 24, 1992 The Madrid Peace Conference settled in Washington, D.C. An excerpt from the New York Times on that same day describing the intent of the talks is as follows;

"Lawrence S. Eagleburger, who was sworn in as acting secretary of state Sunday, taking over the duties of James A. Baker III, said in an interview Thursday that the peace talks were resuming ``in the context of an Israeli government that is prepared to be far more forthcoming. He predicted that the issue of Palestinian self-rule in the Israeli-occupied territories would be a focus of discussion".

Parallel: According to an article on NYTimes.com, "On Aug. 24, 1992, Hurricane Andrew struck Florida, causing record damage; 55 deaths in Florida, Louisiana and the Bahamas were attributed either directly or indirectly to the storm. The New York Times article about the impact of the storm described the event:

“Suddenly, the landscape was fantastical: tall palm trees yanked out of the ground with balls of roots and turf still attached, leaving lawns looking like pockmarked green carpets. In places, it was as if a giant, mad wood-chopper had hacked its way through cypresses, pines and palms. In other places, roofs had been sheared away like sardine-can lids and sailboats grabbed from the water and dropped randomly on what had been dry land.”

TropicalWeather.net describes the storm like this,

"Hurricane Andrew was the 3rd category 5 hurricane to hit the U.S. on record. Originally it was classified as a strong category 4 hurricane. After additional evaluations and research it was upgraded to a category 5. It caused catastrophic damage to south Florida near Homestead. Hurricane Andrew at the time was the costliest hurricane on record with 26.5 billion dollars in damage. Andrew also had the fourth lowest pressure of any U.S. hurricane at landfall at 922 millibars. Only Hurricane Camille, Hurricane Katrina, and the Labor Day hurricane had lower pressures at landfall. As for winds, a Hurricane Hunter aircraft measured a 10,000 foot flight level wind of 196 mph just before landfall in south Florida".

One other interesting parallel in relation to American leaders bowing to Palestinian pressure was the statement made by Bill Clinton in Geneva on January16, 1994.

"Israel must make concessions that will be politically unpopular with many Israelis."

This referred primarily to Israel conceding the Golan Heights to Syria.

Parallel: On the following day a 6.8 magnitude earthquake struck the Los Angeles area. According to the description of the quake there emerges a couple of interesting facts. The rupture started at a depth of about 12 miles and it occurred on a previously unknown fault. Coincidence or not that there are 12 tribes of Israel mentioned in the Bible? The description from the website JohnMartin.com is as follows,

"The main shock occurred on a shallowly-dipping, previously unknown thrust fault. The rupture started at a depth of about 12 miles (19 km) and, during the course of the main shock, traveled upward and northward, spreading both eastward and westward. The focal mechanism of the main shock from both first motions and teleseisms shows a N 60° W striking and 35° to 45° south dipping plane. Rock on the south side of the fault surged upward and over the rock on the north side. As a result of the quake, the Earth's crust south of the San Fernando Valley moved slightly closer to the Earth's crust north of the valley, and the mountains just north of the valley are slightly higher. "Damage was most extensive in the San Fernando Valley, the Simi Valley, and in the northern part of the Los Angeles Basin. After the earthquake, a total of 24,000 dwellings were vacated. The death toll from the quake was 57. The total cost of the earthquake was estimated to be at least $10 billion. The Northridge earthquake is significant since it was the most expensive earthquake and one of the most expensive natural disasters in United States history, yet it occurred on a previously unknown fault".

Could the timeline between the time these events occurred and the catastrophes which followed be coincidence or something more?

Stay tuned for more installments on this interesting subject.
.
And while we are on this subject let me ask you a question--one friend to another.

Do some of the events prophesied in the Bible of 'signs of the times" fill you with dread or anticipation?

Do they cause you to pause and consider why am I here on earth in this time of history?

Could there be something to these words that Christ spoke two thousand years ago?

One more favor my friend. Would you take a stroll in your mind along with me down a road in which many have found the answers to some of the questions pondered above?

This road has been named "The Romans Road", for reasons that will become obvious once you begin the journey.

Our guide will be a gentleman named Paul. He will lead us to a number of stops along the way where we will learn some of the mysteries he encountered on the Damascus Road.

Ready? There are a total of eight stops, each with a placard containing these portions of scripture. I can promise you--one friend to another--that if you sincerely take to heart each stop with an open mind, you will finish this walk we've had today with a new perspective on life.

1.) As it is written, There is none righteous, no, not one: There is none that understandeth, there is none that seeketh after God. They are all gone out of the way, they are together become unprofitable; there is none that doeth good, no, not one. (Romans 3:10-12)

2.) For all have sinned, and come short of the glory of God; (Romans 3:23)

3.) For the wages of sin is death; but the gift of God is eternal life through Jesus Christ our Lord.  (Romans 6:23)

4.) But God commendeth his love toward us, in that, while we were yet sinners, Christ died for us. (Romans 5:8)

5.) But what saith it? The word is nigh thee, even in thy mouth, and in thy heart: that is, the word of faith, which we preach; That if thou shalt confess with thy mouth the Lord Jesus, and shalt believe in thine heart that God hath raised him from the dead, thou shalt be saved. For with the heart man believeth unto righteousness; and with the mouth confession is made unto salvation. (Romans 10: 8-10)

6.)  Therefore being justified by faith, we have peace with God through our Lord Jesus Christ: (Romans 5:1)

7.)  There is therefore now no condemnation to them which are in Christ Jesus, who walk not after the flesh, but after the Spirit. (Romans 8:1)

8.)  For I am persuaded, that neither death, nor life, nor angels, nor principalities, nor powers, nor things present, nor things to come, Nor height, nor depth, nor any other creature, shall be able to separate us from the love of God, which is in Christ Jesus our Lord. (Romans 8:38-39)
